Recent events concerning controversial forward Lamar Odom have led the LA Clippers to look cross-town instead -- and they landed a player who might just provide the kind of steady performance they need.

Erstwhile LA Lakers forward Antawn Jamison, who is coming off a career-low performance in the 2012-2013 season, has been offered a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum of $1.4 million, the same amount he received for the Lakers.

Even though the Charlotte Bobcats offered a three-year deal worth $10 million in 2012, Jamison chose to play for what he thought would be a championship contender as the Lakers had also signed Dwight Howard and Steve Nash. However, he would ultimately regret his decision as he had a less-than-harmonious relationship with head coach Mark D'Antoni. Jamison was also reportedly sick of the infighting among the Lakers. He sustained a torn wrist ligament in the last month of the Lakers' season and averaged a paltry 9.4 points and 5.4 rebounds, a huge drop-off from his career average of 19.5 points per game.

The Clippers had reportedly wanted to sign both Odom and Jamison in an effort to shore up its frontline, which already includes Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. In fact, team management had been waiting for a decision from Odom before the forward's mysterious disappearance and drug abuse revelations.

Jamison's arrival at the Clippers camp gives the team an additional offensive dimension, as they have also signed shooters J.J. Redick and Jared Dudley. The Clippers have also given Matt Barnes a contract extension. With the way things are shaping up in LA, it looks like the Clippers have the more balanced roster across-the-board, and it gives Jamison a legitimate chance to finally get his championship ring.
