Life After Divorce: Katie Holmes Heads Back to Broadway [PHOTOS]
Actress Katie Holmes is finally returning to Broadway with her very first major project after her infamous divorce from superstar Tom Cruise.
According to CBS News reports, the 33-year old actress will star this autumn in "Dead Accounts" which is a five-character comedy by Theresa Rebeck. Three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien will be directing the said comedy.
Meanwhile, New York Times reports that Katie Holmes will portray a character named Lorna, a woman in her 30s and is fairly unglamorous. The female character is said to be living with her aging parents in Cincinnati while she tries to pull her life back together. This character is pretty much describing Katie Holmes herself right? She is clearly picking up the pieces and moving forward with her new life as a single mom since the divorce settlement with Tom Cruise earlier this month.
Katie Holmes became famous as Joey Potter on the hit TV teen drama "Dawson's Creek" from 1998 until the program ended back in 2003. Afterwards, the actress landed on a number of movie roles including the 2005 "Batman Begins" films as she acted alongside Christian Bale, Sir Michael Caine and Liam Neeson.
The beautiful brunette made her successful Broadway debut when she appeared alongside John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson in Arthur Miller's "All My Sons" revival in 2008.
Nowadays, playwright Theresa Rebeck is definitely delighted about Holmes being part of the production. "It's beyond cool, honestly. The whole team is lively as hell. I am positively tingling with delight," Rebeck shared in an interview with The Wrap.
The play will have its opening this fall at the Music Box Theatre in New York City where Holmes will be living with her 6-year old daughter Suri. Meanwhile, showing dates and the other casting news will be further announced.
