Life imitates art in this true to life Slumdog Millionaire tale, well maybe only in this certain case. A man who works in the IT department was able to own a Television set last year won $1million on an Indian game show.

In this Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, photograph, Sushil Kumar, left, with Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, shows $1 million check after winning on an Indian game show, in Mumbai, India

A true rags-to-riches story, Sushil Kumar is a 27-year old postgraduate in psychology who has a current job as a computer operator which fetches him only Rs 6000 per month which is roughly $120. Sushil worked hard for his degree and even finished his masters degree despie of difficulties. His father said that had always been studious and inquisitive since his childhood.

His mother, Renu Devi, added her son has been an avid viewer of KBC for several years even though they only came to own a TV set in the last year. when her son got the state government's contractual job which, ironically, involves tracking where millions of rupees under MGNREGA in neighbouring West Champaran district go.

Poor government clerk wins $1millionKumar says he will use the money to repay the loan and get his ancestral home back and would also buy a plot of land to construct a comfortable house for his family.Kumar also added that he would use part of the money on preparations for the civil service exams for which he would now need to move to Delhi.

This is a heart warming story of a young man who grew up in poverty but aspired to become prosperous. Even though Kumar had attained higher education, the winner was not able to find a suitable employment to live a comfortable life but had luckily found a means of helping his family -- through Danny Boyle's Oscar-winning idea.
