Mean Girls star, Lindsay Lohan’s lawyer issued a statement over the weekend denying involvement of her client on the $2,500 worth of stolen necklace.

Atty. Shawn Chapman Holley belied reports of Lilo’s connection in the case following earlier revelation of the Los Angeles police that the actress could be implicated in the stolen-but-recovered necklace and with enough evidence. The authorities have maintained the Parent Trap star could be facing grand theft felony charges.

"We vehemently deny these allegations and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press," Holley was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.

The Los Angeles authorities went to Lilo’s house early last week with a search warrant in hopes to find the reported jewelry. But before they could even hand in the warrant, the necklace was turned in to detectives by an unidentified associate of the actress.

The search warrant came following a complaint filed by owners of a Venice custom jewelry store, Kamofie & Co. who claimed that the said necklace was stolen on January 22. Lindsay Lohan was released from the Betty Ford Center, three weeks after the said incident.

Lilo's camp has maintained that the jewelry was loaned to the actress by a friend.
