Lindsay Lohan skips jail for testing positive to alcohol after house party
Lindsay Lohan had dodged a bullet for consuming alcohol while she is on house arrest, and it seems she won't be wearing orange jumpsuits in the near future.
It seems that even on house arrest, the troubled star can find lots of ways to keep her partying lifestyle on the radar. The actress failed a mandatory alcohol test after hosting a barbeque party on the rooftop of her Venice apartment last June 13, indicating she had consumed large amounts of alcohol while on house arrest. The actress was sentenced to four months in prison, which was reduced to a house arrest when Lohan plead "no contest" for allegedly stealing a $2500 necklace at a Los Angeles boutique. The sentence was later reduced to a misdemeanor.
In a scheduled meeting between the actress' lawyer, probation officer and Judge Stepanie Sautner at the Los Angeles County Court earlier today, luck proved to be on Lohan's side. The judged ruled out another stint in prison for the failed alcohol test, saying the tests are only eligible between the two first months of the year. Although allowed to entertain guests at her house, the actress is prohibited from throwing parties and gatherings that involve alcohol and the likes. The judge ruled Lohan can only invite guests "one friend at a time" from now on.
But Lohan's probation officer thinks otherwise. The officer says the actress is a "spoiled brat" who won't change her wayward ways and begged the judge to lock the star in jail. "The defendant's behavior indicates she is not attempting to change. It appears that the defendant does not view being on the electronic monitoring program as a privilege" says the probation officer in a report posted by TMZ. Despite the probation officer's plea,
The actress' lawyer Shawn Cahapman continues to defend her, saying "Lindsay is in compliance with the terms and conditions of her probation and her electronic monitoring" in a post by News.com.au. "She obeyed all laws, she has done nothing wrong. Let's give her credit for that" adds the lawyer in the same report.
