Lindsay Lohan is facing possible jail time as she figures in yet another controversy involving criminal battery. Lohan allegedly subjected a staffer at Betty Ford Center to what was described as a "hand-to-hand battery."

According to entertainment Web site TMZ, the Palm Desert Police Department is investigating an altercation between a female staffer at the Betty Ford Center and Lindsay Lohan after the latter and her friends went to a bar and came back 12 minutes past her curfew last December 12.

The Hollywood actress claimed that when she came back to the Center, she was "unfairly" scolded by a female staffer about arriving past her curfew. Reports say that the staffer demanded that Lindsay take a drug-alcohol test and that the woman placed her hands on the actress during the altercation.

Lindsay claimed that she told the staffer to take her hands off her but she allegedly pushed her back. Police received a call at 1:03 AM that day, for "hand-to-hand battery" and interviewed both staffer and Lohan. TMZ reports that the staffer want Lohan to be prosecuted for the incident.

Lohan is at the Betty Ford Center, a drug and alcohol treatment facility in California, for rehabilitation as part of her sentence. She will remain at the facility until January 3rd next year.
