Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan stepped into the shoes of Hollywood royalty, Elizabeth Taylor.

The 25-year-old actress highly resembles prime actress and beauty Elizabeth Taylor in the official image for Lifetime's Liz & Dick, which is a biopic of Taylor's romance with actor Richard Burton. The couple was once hailed as Hollywood's royal couple.

Grant Bowler will play the role of Richard Burton, which also has resemblance to the late actor.

In the photo, Lindsay donned the similar low-cut scarlet dress that was famously worn by Taylor in 1950s. The actress completed her look with a white fur.

The staff and crew admitted that after being made-up and dressed, Lindsay really looked like Elizabeth Taylor. It seems that Lindsay simply transformed into Elizabeth Taylor.

The costume department even recreated Liz's famous jewelries like her gargantuan 33-carat engagement ring that Richard Burton gave her.

Lohan is reported to have dyed her hair dark for the role. Also, she was seen in the set wearing vintage dresses for the shoot.

Lindsay revealed her admiration for the late actress.

"I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor. She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honoured to have been asked to play this role," Lohan said.

Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton were first married from 1964 to 1974. The two caused a scandal as they were in an affair when they were still married to their former spouses. They married again in 1975, but their second union only lasted a year, and they divorced again in 1976.
