Lindsay Lohan's mother, Dina, got the police involved when she was denied a free ice cream cake for her son Cody's fourteenth birthday party.

Dina tried to redeem the freebie by using a card that promises the rightful bearer "75 years of free ice cream". However, as the name on the card had her daughter Lindsay's name, and not hers, on it, the manager of the ice cream store, Carvel, confiscated the card.

Lindsay's, and younger sister Ali's, 'momager' called the manager's actions "the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen" and told The New York Post, "He almost pushed the cake off the counter and he wouldn't give the card back, so we called police."

Eventually, the police arrived and gave the card back to Dina but told her that she is no longer allowed to use it.

Carvel issued a statement following the incident explaining that Dina had been "abusing the card" for six months to get "numerous and large orders for ice cream" for her family and friends.

The card in question, the Carvel Black Card, was issued by the company to promote its 75th anniversary. The cards were given to 75 celebrities, who upon brandishing the card, would get free ice cream for the next 75 years. This was a clever marketing move by the company as whenever a celebrity was spotted going to a Carvel store for ice cream, the company would get free publicity.
