Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn will miss the World Cup races in St. Moritz, Switzerland, on the weekend of Dec 14 to 15, as reported by USA Today.

Vonn is expected to be picky of the races she will compete with to spare her knee until the 2014 Sochi Olympics in February.

"I'm going to be selective in my races," said Vonn. She also stated that she is skiing well. On Sunday, she finished fifth when she made her debut to a Super-G event held in Lake Louise, Alberta. It was the first time that she has raced after her injury. She made it clear that she has no intentions of pushing herself. She has to be very cautious if she wants to compete in the Winter Olympics.

Vonn suffered an appalling injury during the first race of the 2013 World Championships in Schladming, Austria. She crashed in the Women's Super-G competition on Feb.5. It was a painful crash because the accident resulted in a tear in her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL) on her right knee. She sustained a lateral tibial plateau fracture. A chopper had to come and airlift her to the nearest hospital to receive first-aid treatment.

She has undergone a rehabilitation program to help her recuperate from the catastrophic injury. She revealed how she has managed to get back in shape in the December issue of Red Bull's "The Red Bulletin." Yahoo Sports has featured an infographic that showcases how Vonn recovered from her injury.

Vonn is a four-time World Cup champion. She won in 2008, 2009, 2010 and in 2012. During the 2010 Winter Olympics, she won the gold medal in the downhill competition. She was able to win in all the five disciplines of alpine skiing such as Super-G, slalom, downhill, giant slalom, and Super Combined. She is involved in a romantic relationship with professional golfer Tiger Woods.
