Lisa McCune on Teddy Tahu Rhodes’ Sex Tape Scandal: ‘It’s Baloney’
Lisa McCune has broken her silence on her lover Teddy Tahu Rhodes’ sex tape scandal. The Australian actress laughed off reports that she was devastated upon the news that the Kiwi opera singer was caught on cam having sex with a mystery brunette.
On Tuesday, New Idea and Woman’s Day magazines reported the existence of a homemade sex tape featuring Rhodes and an unknown woman.
It’s unclear when the video was shot or who leaked it, but it was apparently taken some years ago before Rhodes has gotten his newer body tattoos.
New Idea claimed that McCune was shocked by the emergence of the video. Her reps declined to comment.
But during the press conference of the theatre production of “The King and I” at the Princess Theatre on Thursday, McCune, 43, dismissed the report as “baloney.”
“I actually think it is quite funny because apparently I’m heartbroken which I’m not,” she was quoted by the Daily Telegraph as saying.
She added, “Everybody is happy and Teddy is doing well.”
The 43-year-old four-time Gold Logie Award winner refused to discuss the issue anymore, just saying, “To be honest I am having such a delightful time doing the King and I and that is my focus.
“It is not even worth talking about, it is such baloney and I’m just going to move through it.”
Rhodes starred alongside McCune in the Brisbane run of “The King and I,” though the lead is played by Jason Scott Lee in the production’s Melbourne shows.
The pair, who were co-starring int he musical “South Pacific,” were spotted kissing and cuddling at a Melbourne coffee shop in 2012 while they were still both married to other people.
Rhodes was married to mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard until 2013, while McCune has been married to Tim Disney since 2000.
When contacted for comment by Woman’s Day, Leonard’s rep said that the American opera singer “knows nothing of any video.”
