A-List Stars to Attend Michael Jordan’s Annual Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament
Michael Jordan's annual celebrity golf tournament will be held at the Strip and Shadow Creek Golf Course on April 3 to 6, 2014. It is expected that some of the most prominent names in the sporting world as well as other A-list celebrities will take part and participate in Jordan's charity golf tournament.
"I'm really looking forward to the 13th Annual Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational," Jordan wrote on the official Web site. "Last year's event, which raised over $500,000 for charity, had a lot of great moments," he added. "This year's tournament is sure to be even better," claimed the retired National Basketball Association (NBA) player.
In the past, the celebrities and high-profile people who have graced Jordan's charity golf tournament included Jessica Alba, Nick Cannon and wife Mariah Carey, Kenny G, Billy Crudup, Claire Danes, Ashton Kutcher, Kid Rock, Leann Rimes, Ozzie Smith, and Robin Thicke among many others. Jordan's former NBA pals such as Penny Hardaway, Charles Barkley, Derek Anderson, and Ron Harper have also partaken in the said event. Other sport personalities like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Michael Phelps, and Boris Becker were also in attendance in the past.
This year, previous celebrity attendees will join again along with some brand new faces. Christina Millan, Aaron Rodgers, Ray Romano, Luke Wilson, Toni Kukoc, Bruce Jenner, Boyz II Men, Marcus Allen, and Nick Jonas are scheduled to appear. Tickets are already on sale starting at $22.50 up to $500 dollars. The star-studded golf tournament will run for four days but the best chance of seeing the celebrities play will be on the weekends.
Jordan's celebrity invitational golf tournament has raised as much as $7 million dollars since its inception in 2001. The funds that were raised in the past events have benefited Jordan's charitable institutions. This year, the beneficiaries include Make-A-Wish Foundation, Keep Memory Alive, Cats Care, James R. Jordan Foundation, and Opportunity Village.
After retiring from playing in the NBA, Jordan has kept himself busy a number of things. Aside from playing golf in his celebrity tournaments, Jordan has been making vast donations to other charitable institutions like Habitat for Humanity and Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Jordan and his wife Yvette Prieto became parents to their first children together on Feb. 9.
