Liverpool FC: Brendan Rodgers Accedes That His Days As Reds Boss Could Be Numbered
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers acceded that his days as Reds overseer could be numbered, should they fail to bounce back from their recent poor form, highlighted by the 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace on Sunday (AEST).
The Merseysiders have lost four straight games, three in the Premier League and one in the Champions League, and are now positioned 12th domestically, failing to meet expectations set by their runner-up finish last season.
"I'm not arrogant enough to think that I will be in a job through anything," said the Irishman.
"Any manager will tell you that you have to win games and you have to get results, especially after how we've been developing as a football club."
"But I have a great communication line with the owners. We've been honest enough with each other but ultimately you have to get results. You have to perform."
The former Swansea City mentor takes "full responsibility" from the setback that his side is experiencing, while trying to get belief back in the team's vocabulary.
"You've seen a team low on confidence today. Not quite together as a team. We need to find a solution very quickly because it was very disappointing," he added.
"It's my responsibility as the manager, ultimately. I put the team out there, the best team to win us the game. We made a good start."
"You could see our passing was a wee bit tentative, and then we make mistakes. Mistakes you wouldn't expect to see from a team that's supposed to be challenging. We failed to manage the game."
The Reds will be travelling to Razgrad on Thursday to play a crucial fixture against Ludogorets in Europe's top-tier, the result of which could define whether they could get past the group stages or not.
