Liverpool could lose Christian Benteke and Daniel Trickett-Smith this summer, with the Belgian international being linked to Atletico Madrid, while the 20-year-old failing to secure a contract extension with the Reds.

According to reports from Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, Atletico Madrid are willing to shell out £37 million (AU$69.4 million) to acquire the services of Benteke. The 25-year-old Belgian, who just signed a contract with Liverpool last July, has endured a dismal first season at Anfield, only scored eight goals in limited playing time.

“Atletico are keen to fill the void left by Jackson Martinez's departure to the Chinese Super League this winter and Benteke is seen as a candidate to play alongside forward Fernando Torres,” Joe Short of the Express wrote. “But Atletico will reportedly need help to finance the deal and are seeking Qatari investment.”

Another Spanish site, Todomercadoweb, claims that transfer talks between Benteke and the Red and Whites could begin imminently. Benteke, who has been unhappy over Jurgen Klopp’s decision to not give him ample minutes on the field, seems to have drawn great interest from Atletico as an ideal fit for Diego Simeone's playing style.

The Premier League sides could also lose Trickett-Smith this summer, although on a different situation. The Daily Star reported that the English international has been told he will not be given an extension by Liverpool after signing him from Crewe for £1 million (AU$1.8 million).

Meanwhile, Liverpool are reportedly ready to seal an £8 million (AU$15.0 million) deal on a summer transfer for Valencia’s Daniel Parejo, reports Fichajes. The 26-year-old Spaniard has not been in top form for the La Liga club, having been stripped off of captaincy by former manager Gary Neville. However, Klop is said to be a big fan of Parejo, who has spent most of his career in the Spanish league.
