Logie Awards 2017: ‘Offspring’ star Asher Keddie going up against Jessica Marais for Best Actress; Event’s complete details here
The Logie Awards 2017 is coming up this weekend in Australia. It is going to be a tough battle not only for the Golden Logie trophy but also for the Best Actress award.
“Offspring” lead star Asher Keddie will go up against “Love Child” and “The Wrong Girl” actress Jessica Marais. If Keddie takes home the trophy this year, it will be her eighth win from the most prestigious award-giving body in Australia. Keddie had won the Logie Awards’ Most Popular Actress for five consecutive years since 2011. She had three Gold Logie nominations, winning the award in 2013, and the Most Outstanding Actress recognition in 2014 as well.
As for Marais, she is breaking new ground as the only female nominee in the Gold Logie category this year for portraying two roles across two TV networks. She portrays midwife Joan Millar on “Love Child” and breakfast TV producer Lily Woodward on “The Wrong Girl.” This is her first Gold nomination. Marais had won the Logie for Most Popular New Female Talent and the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding New Talent in 2009.
Her competitions for the Best Personality on Australian TV award this year are Grant Denyer, Peter Helliar, Rodger Corser, Samuel Johnson and Waleed Aly. She is also nominated in Logie Award 2017’s Best Actress and Most Outstanding Actress in a Series.
The Logie Awards 2017 ceremony will happen on Sunday at the Crown Entertainment Complex in Melbourne. It will be telecast live on Aussie's Channel Nine at 7 p.m. Red carpet arrivals will stream live on 9Now starting at 4 p.m. James Blunt, Casey Donovan and Jessica Mauboy are set to perform at the awards show. Check out the complete list of nominees here courtesy of TV Week.
