Lorde Calls One Direction 'Overrated,' 'Directioners' Fight Back by Blasting Lorde’s Boyfriend on Twitter [PHOTOS]
"Royals" singer Lorde blasted boyband, One Direction calling them "overrated." The New Zealand singer was interviewed by MTV where she said that Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne are all "overrated."
A rep of the singer had contacted oceanup.com, which had reported that the diss was totally a fabricated story and that Lorde did not diss the boyband nor did she diss anyone else. The New Zealand singer said:
"One Direction are pretty overrated and their music isn't really good I find it odd they're famous. I have pretty strong morals and opinions being in pop music, and I can't help but express those, which I think people appreciate. I mean, I don't think I say anything that isn't backed up. Most of the time I will stand by things that I've said."

This did not go well with the fans of One Direction as they took to Twitter to start lashing out the 'hurtful' words by Lorde. Fans were furious and had found a photo in which Lorde shared of her boyfriend. The tweets about Lorde and her boyfriend were all quite below the belt and in a way the retaliation was no longer about what Lorde had said but it was to bash the man Lorde was with in the photo.
The singer is known to speak her mind and it goes quite well with her fans. Most of the tweets were directed to Lorde's boyfriend and were rather 'racist rants' then a means of defending One Direction. A tweet posted by a fan of 1D, which was posted by @1DBeMine4eva on December 11 said:
"lorde said 1D is ugly But look at her boyfriend Eewww Agr I hate herpic.twitter.com/FOaFX5IAEr"
Even rapper, Tyler the Creator posted a photo of Lorde and her boyfriend at a beach with a caption saying "Hhahahahahah."
The singer replied saying ""Was this supposed to make me feel something?" and the rapper replied "NOT AT ALL. IT MADE ME LAUGH."
Both these tweets have been deleted but something tells us that Lorde will lash out on all these racist rants, which are a tad too below the belt for any fan or celebrity for that matter.
