Lorde has proved that she can take on more established artists when she covered Kanye West and Bon Iver in one of her U.S. shows. Videos of the 17-year-old Kiwi’s September 5 performance at the Mann Performing Arts Centre in Philadelphia have made their way online.

The young songstress is currently in her “Pure Heroine” tour in the U.S.

During her Philadelphia show, Lorde sampled Kanye’s “Flashing Lights” before singing her own song “Bravado.” Later on, she covered another artists’ song, this time, it’s indie band Bon Iver’s “Heavenly Father.”

The clips have recently been uploaded, though they have been taken earlier this month.

It’s not surprising that Lorde chose a Kanye song to cover. She has been vocal about being a fan of the American rapper since stepping into the limelight herself.

In an interview with the Guardian in July, Lorde likened Kim Kardashian’s husband as “like my school principal, if the school is pop.”

Lorde graces the October issue of Elle magazine, in which she talked about coping in an industry where she is regarded as young and inexperienced.

“I’m like, constantly scanning myself to see if I’m some corporate executive version of a teenager. I’ve developed something of a fearsome reputation. People know that if you talk down to me, I will roll my eyes or whatever,” she told the magazine.

She acknowledged that she still has a lot to learn, though, adding that she strives not to hurt people’s feelings with her frankness.

“But now the circule of people I work with all the time is huge and spans continents, and you have to be quite conscientious. So it’s, like, learning not to hurt people’s feelings. Obviously, I am hanging out with more people now who are not teenagers, I’m in different circles. But I am a teenager. My brain is, like, a certain age. Everyone is talking about you. You have to learn not to care as much.”
