Lorde may be dominating international music lists, but back at home, she’s not the queen of the charts anymore. Opera trio Sol3 Mio have ousted the 17-year-old “Royals” hitmaker on top of the New Zealand albums charts with their self-titled album “Sol3 Mio.”

The group from Auckland consists of brothers Amitai and Pene Pati, and their cousin Moses Mackay. Their album was released just in November, but has already toppled over Lorde’s own “Pure Heroine” and “The Love Club EP.” It became 2013’s fastest-selling record in just five weeks that it has been available.

“It was a complete surprise for us,” Moses was quoted by the New Zealand Herald. “We had a little bit of feeling that maybe a few thousand albums might sell, just to people we’d met along the way, but to see it take off so fast, and on such a grand scale, really took us back.”

The tenor brothers and their baritone cousin also have their national tour selling out fast. Three shows scheduled in March – Hamilton, Wanganui, and Whangarei – have already sold out, prompting the fun-loving trio to announce a second show in Hamilton on March 3.

“Three Samoan-Kiwi boys from Auckland beating the world’s hottest stars? It’s remarkable,” promoter Campbell Smith said.

“We can’t wait to bring their live show to New Zealanders. It’s phenomenal.”

They still have a few seats left for fans in some venues, though. And judging by how fast the tickets are going, there’s not much time left before all venues sell out as well.

Their first extensive national tour will commence on March 3 in Hamilton, and will conclude on March 26 in Christchurch.
