Lorde Receives Death Threats From Miley Cyrus Fans After Topping iTunes Chart
Not everyone is happy that Lorde has risen to the top. The teen singer from New Zealand, who continues to receive accolades for her chart-topping hit “Royals,” has been getting death threats from Miley Cyrus’ fans after she topped the U.S. iTunes charts.
“Royals” has bumped Miley’s own “Wrecking Ball” from the number one spot on Friday, but some people were angry that a 16-year-old relatively unknown singer dared to outdo their idol.

The Kiwi singer, whose birth name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor, tweeted on Friday, “wo #1 on US itunes, even if it lasts an hour i feel HAPPY. downside is all these miley fans telling me they’re gonna stab my rotting corpse.” She then retweeted a few offensive tweets she got from the controversial American songstress’ followers.

But while some of her fans were bitter, Miley only had good words for Lorde. She has quickly reached out to the younger singer to show that she didn’t share her fans’ opinion.
“@lordemusic why r people so mean??? Ps your music is awesome,” the 20-year-old former child star tweeted.
