Lorde’s David Bowie tribute at the BRIT Awards earns thumbs up from his son Duncan Jones

Unlike Lady Gaga, Lorde has received a thumbs up from David Bowie’s son following her tribute to the rock icon. Duncan Jones did not directly mentioned the “Royals” hitmaker’s performance at the 2016 BRIT Awards, but he still called the show “beautiful.”
The 19-year-old Kiwi teen, who Bowie once called the “future of music,” sang “Life of Mars?” with Bowie’s band at the BRITs on Wednesday. The number was understated, adorned with little fuss, save for the gigantic images and clips of Bowie in the background. When Lorde entered the stage, the lights turned orange, giving the stage a nostalgic feel. The piece was both modest and majestic at the same time.
For Jones, it was simply “beautiful.”
Finally found the links to tonight's Brits. Just... beautiful. Thank you.

He did not mention Lorde’s name specifically, or even the tribute piece for his father, but many believe that the BAFTA Award-winning filmmaker was referring to that segment.
Pianist Mike Garson replied to Jones, praising Lorde for her respect to Bowie.
.@ManMadeMoon We worked 100 hours to get tonight right. And @lorde was a dream to work with. We adored her respectfulness to your dad.

Jones’ reaction to the tribute was unlike his comment on Lady Gaga’s homage to his dad at the 2016 Grammy Awards earlier this month. Gaga sang several Bowie’s hits, including “Space Oddity” and “Suffragette City,” in complete Bowie ensemble from the “Ziggy Stardust” era.
Some called her performance “electrifying,” others thought it was spot-on. However, Jones apparently did not like it. He tweeted a veiled comment about Gaga without actually naming her. He just wrote the definition for the word “gaga,” and it did not sound anywhere near complimentary.
"overexcited or irrational, typically as a result of infatuation or excessive enthusiasm; mentally confused." Damn it! What IS that word!?

When Bowie died on Jan. 10 from liver cancer, Lorde wrote an emotional Facebook post and called him her “hero.” She recalled how the 69-year-old music superstar gave him strength when she was still new to the whole fame thing.
“I’ve never met a hero of mine and liked it. It just sucks, the pressure is too huge, you can’t enjoy it. David was different,” she wrote.
