Lorde’s Dunedin Town Hall Concert Sells Out in an Hour

Lorde’s first ever home headline tour in New Zealand has sold out just an hour after going n sale. The 17-year-old Grammy Award winner is set to embark on a national tour, but the Dunedin show for October 29 quickly sold out on Monday.

The songstress, whose real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor, is currently in her North American tour, and she will be closing her shows in New Zealand. The first stop is at the Horncastle Arena in Christchurch on October 27 before she takes the stage at the Dunedin Town Hall on the 29th.

Unfortunately for her fans in the area, the 2,300 seats at the venue have sold out immediately after going on sale at noon on Monday.

And despite of the high demand for tickets, there will be no second show planned for Dunedin.

Kiwi fans can still catch tickets in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland, though. She will be at the TSB Bank Arena in Wellington on October 31 and at the Vector Arena in Auckland on November 1.

Lorde recently made history as the first female solo artist to win Best Rock Video for “Royals” at the MTV Video Music Awards. However, some people weren’t too happy about her winning the coveted moon man.

According to some of her critics, her first claim to fame “Royals” isn’t a rock song, and therefore shouldn’t be put in the same category as The Black Keys’ “Fever, Arctic Monkeys’ “Do I Wanna Know?” Imagine Dragons’ “Demons” and Linkin Park’s “Until It’s Gone.”

She was also nominated for Best Female Video for “Royals” at the VMAs, but ultimately lost to “Dark Horse” by Katy Perry.
