Lorde's New Birth Certificate Proves She is Actually 33 and is Russian? How True is the Story?
Why is everyone behind Lorde's real age? A Web site called fasterlouder.com has unearthed a new birth certificate of the "Royals" singer which pegs her age at 33 years and her nationality as Russian. According to the new birth certificate, Lorde is not a teenager but a grown up 33-year-old woman whose real name is Marija Lani Yelich O' Connorov and her real birth date is November 7, 1980.
The Web site allegedly purchased the certificate for $8.75 AUD and it shows Lorde was born in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) in Russia. The Web site also says that Lorde's pale white complexion proves the fact that she is a Russian. To further add to the proof, the Web site is also showing a picture of Lorde with a typical Russian hat. Check it here.
However, another Web site called The Hairpin posted a different birth certificate of the singer in January and according this, Lorde's real age is17 and she was born as Ella Yelich O'Connor in New Zealand. Which one do you believe? You can see both the birth certificates here. However, there is definitely a catch in the story.
Fastandlouder.com published the news of Lorde's new birth certificate on March 31 and on April 1, 2014; it edited the story with a new update titled - April Fools. So all you Lorde's fans, there is no doubt that the two time Grammy Award winning singer is actually 17-years-old and was also born in New Zealand. The Hairpin got hold of the actual birth certificate back in January.
Lorde herself has been confusing her fans with her real age in various interviews. "Hi, I'm Ella," she told Vanity Fair magazine back in January, "and I'm actually 45." The "Royals" singer's age has been a controversial topic ever since she released her chart-topping song "Royals" since 2012. The singer not only dresses maturely but also talks intelligent, unlike her peers who may be older to her. While Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and other pop stars are displaying outlandish behaviour, Lorde comes as a breath of fresh air. What are your views?
