Lorde” has been given the Weird Al Yankovic treatment after the musician parodied her hit song “Royals” with “Foils.”

The 54-year-old U.S. parodist declares his love for aluminium foils in his latest song. But what started as an innocent praise for the kitchen packaging has become an exposé rant about government secrets and the Illuminati group.

Instead of the recognisable line, “We’ll never be royals,” Weird Al changed it to “With aluminium foil.”

Here’s a sample of Weird Al’s “Foil” line:

“With aluminium foil (foil)
Never settle for less
That kind of wrap is just the best
To keep your sandwich nice and fresh
Stick it in your cooler (cooler)
Eat it when you’re ready
But maybe you’ll choose (you’ll choose, you’ll choose, you’ll choose)
A refreshing herbal tea”

If that isn’t weird enough, the song gets even more so by the second verse.

“Oh, by the way, I’ve cracked the code
I’ve figured out these shadow organisations
And the Illuminati know
That they’re primed for world domination”

Comedian Patton Oswalt makes an appearance in the music video as the director, as well as Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant as the men in black who drags Weird Al away.

Lorde hasn’t said anything about the parody yet, but she has retweeted co-songwriter Joel Little’s post about the homage to their song.

“Foil” is included in Weird Al’s “Mandatory Fun” album, which also includes parody songs of Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” (“Tacky”), Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” (“Handy”) and Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” (“Word Crimes”).
