Lorde's Trashy Clothes: 'Royals' Singer Gets Her Quirky Clothes And Furniture From Garbage Dumped On Road Side
One person's garbage and discarded clothes can be another person's treasure and fashion. This statement holds true for multiple Grammy Award-winning songstress Lorde. The teenager recently said in an interview that she loves to hunt for clothes and furniture in the garbage dumped on the roadside. And, as she is a celebrity, she has been caught in the act whenever she does that.
The 18-year-old is probably earning a lot more than her peers and can afford an envious lifestyle. The "Royals" singer, however, told The Telegraph that she loves to go through the discarded waste of her neighbours that lies on the road for a few days before it is dumped in the landfill. The New Zealand born singer said that she likes to get her hands dirty in the trash and she did that as recently as three-weeks ago.
"See, I'm boring because my favorite thing to do is trawl the inorganics. ....And, honestly, I've gotten amazing furniture, shoes, hats, jackets. [...] I did this three weeks ago! Recognized every single time. So embarrassing!" The Telegraph has quoted Lorde as saying.
The singer also talked about how she found it difficult to handle fame at such a young age. She was 16-years-old when her song "Royals" gave her the recognition. Lorde said that she was forced to appear on red carpets and people would say bad things about her clothes, without realising how young she was to be thrown into it.
"I'd just turned 16, and people were wanting me to do red carpets and I was, like, 'I'm still getting used to how I look and I'm still growing," Lorde said.
The singer, whose real name is Ella Yelich-O'Connor, was told that if "everyone else does it" she should also appear on the red carpet. But, the pop star told the website that she does not like how the critics judge the celebrities on the basis of their clothes and put them on the list of "worst dressed." Lorde said she does not want to go through it and wants to live a "stress-free" life hence has decided not to make any more appearances on the red carpets.
