Lotus Elise Cup 250 unveiled, brings speed, power and limited edition quality, but not to the U.S.
Lotus is now touting its newest and fastest car ever. The Lotus Elise Cup 250 is the roadster that looks every way that it feels in a drive—light, fast and top-of-the-line.
Lotus has already released its newest Elise Cup car, which is reported to reach 60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds, Bloomberg reported. Its top speed reaches 154mph, but this is not the only highlight of this roadster. According to the source, Lotus has managed to trim off 46 pounds from its predecessor, so drivers will be managing a roughly 2,050-pound speedster with 243 horsepower.

Sadly, the Lotus Elise Cup 250 will not be seen on any U.S. roads in the meantime. Just like some other Lotus cars, the Elise Cup 250 will be a no-show. In the U.K. and other markets, however, it will come with a US$65,200 (approx. AU$91,112) price tag.
Interestingly, the report also stated that there is a Carbon Aero Pack, which can make the car even lighter. The pack will change some parts like the front splitter, the rear wing the side-floor extensions and the diffuser with carbon components
Fans who can’t wait to see the Lotus Elise Cup 250 will be happy to know that it will be landing in Geneva in time for the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. According to Car Magazine, only 200 models of the Lotus Elise Cup 250 will be made each year all over the world. While the standard model is the roadster, there is an option to get the hard top for a different look.
“The Lotus Elise has long set the benchmark in its class, yet we’ve been able to hone its straight-line performance and handling. Yes, it’s is capable of amazing things on a track, but it also retains its road manners and is perfectly composed for day-to-day driving,” said Group Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales in a statement quoted by Car Magazine.
