'Lucifer' season 2 spoilers: Introduction of Dr Jacob Carlisle, the antagonist
"Lucifer" season 2 will be seeing the introduction of a new character. Dr Jacob Carlisle (Tim DeKay) will play the show’s antagonist, who could cause trouble to Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis).
Showunner Ildy Modrovich said the arrival of Dr Carlisle and his subsequent encounter with Lucifer will put one of the lead characters in danger. If speculations are to be believed, that character looks to be Chloe (Lauren German).
Dr Carlisle’s character has been designed to inflict pain and torment on Lucifer and his friends, Modrovich said. Nevertheless, the antagonist also has a good side to him.
Speaking with TV Line, Modrovich said, “We’re doing something that we haven’t done before, which is we’re having a three-episode procedural arc launching Jan. 16. So, in addition to mythology and really digging into Lucifer, Chloe and ‘Will They/Won’t They,’ we have one Big Bad guy.”
She added that Dr Carlisle is not all evil – highlighting that he has made a “horrible moral call” and is now facing the repercussions. “He starts doing terrible things, but his intentions aren’t bad. He was faced with making a horrible moral call, in the middle of distress, and now he’s kind of backpedaling from that. But in doing that, he does bad things,” Modrovich added.
In addition to Dr Carlisle’s encounter with Lucifer, the show will dig deep and venture into the mythology surrounding Lucifer. His relationship with Chloe will also be explored in the upcoming episodes.
As a result of poor evaluation of the first 10 episodes, FOX network decided to have a break. Meanwhile, in episode 12, titled “Love Handles,” Lucifer and Chloe will be investigating the case of a killer who is going around poisoning students. The two, who shared a kiss, will also be trying to determine what is going on between them.
Season 2 of "Lucifer" returns with episode 11, "Stewardess Interruptus,” on Jan. 16 in the US. Viewers in Australia can catch the episode on Jan. 18 at 8:30PM on FX.
