Lumia 929: Nokia To Build A Smaller Lumia 1520 To Beat the Galaxy S4 Mini?
Nokia seems ready to cash in on the successful launch if its Lumia 1520 with a mystery device codenamed RM-964 spotted on Zauba, India's import and export data.
The device is reported to have a 5.2-inch screen at a price of AU$617. This is in line with rumors of a compact Lumia 1520 with a 20 MP camera, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU and a full HD screen similar to the next U.S.-only Lumia 929.
The first Windows Phone 8 launched with full HD display and quad-core processor was the Nokia Lumia 1520, putting it against the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 based on power and size. A more compact, smaller screened quad-core counterpart would give the Lumia something to boast about, setting the device apart from the dual-core Windows Phone 8 devices that occupy the market now. It will push the device into the Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One and LG G2 territory.
It seems the Nokia Lumia 929 has escaped from the R&D labs again and caught by a camera. Photo leaks of the Lumia 929 showed that the device will offer a 5-inch 1080p display packed with a 20 MP PureView camera with ZEISS lens and dual-LED flash. The Lumia 1520 phablet has the same configuration.
The device is expected to run a pre-installed Windows Phone GDR3 update and powered by the SnapDragon 800 chipset with 2.2 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM and Adreno 330 graphics. Other specs include LTE, wireless charging support, NFC and a 32 GB non-expandable internal storage.
Earlier reports pointed to Thanksgiving and Nov. 21 as the device's launch (codenamed Icon by @evleaks). But the dates have come and gone with no announcement. There were rumors suggesting it would be launched by late December but with no official confirmation to date, the mysterious RM-964 rumored device was unlikely to launch in 2013 in global markets. However, the release of the 64-bit Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One Two might give Nokia the needed push.
