Lyft Driver Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Teenage Passenger

A 58-year-old Lyft driver has been arrested after he was accused of sexually assaulting a teenage boy Monday while driving him from school to his home in the city of Manassas in Virginia.

Police arrested Ejaz Hussain, of Gainsville, and charged him with sexual battery, FOX 5 DC reported. Prior to the arrest, the Prince William County Police Department was called to Rixlew Lane at approximately 12:11 p.m. Monday to investigate a sexual assault.

According to police, Hussain allegedly sexually assaulted a 17-year-old male juvenile while the elderly man was driving him home from school. Hussain had exchanged contact information with the teen when he drove him to school in the morning before the alleged assault, which the student used to call Hussain for a ride home.

The alleged victim contacted a family member after exiting Hussain's vehicle, who notified police of the incident. No injuries were reported.

Hussain's court date is pending and he is being held under a $3,500 unsecured bond.

The arrest comes nearly a month after an ex-Uber and Lyft driver was accused of raping a university student in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, adding to his many alleged sexual assault cases in other counties.

Clement Swaby, 34, allegedly raped the unnamed Lehigh University student at her apartment in Hillside Avenue on May 19, 2020 as he held a butcher knife. He was charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, burglary, possessing an instrument of crime and terroristic threats.

Swaby was also accused of a sex crime in an off-campus Lafayette College apartment, as well as being linked to sexual assault cases in West Conshohocken in Montgomery County and in Orange County, Florida, prosecutors said.

Authorities took DNA samples from Swaby and entered them in a crime database, which linked him to the Lafayette incident in mid-March and also to the 2016 sexual battery case in Florida.

Authorities have also expressed their concern over the possibility of Swaby having more sexual assault victims who have not come forward, as Swaby's work as a rideshare driver had him visiting many locations along the East Coast.

Lyft has yet to release safety reports disclosing incidents of sexual assault and abuse on its platform — more than three years after the company pledged to do so in light of the growing number of incidents involving rideshare drivers.
