Lynyrd Skynyrd Set for Their First Australian Tour
The legendary rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd are set to tour Australia for the first time since the band was formed. A Lynyrd Skynyrd Australian Tour 2014 has been announced, and the band will rock Down Under.
It is surprising that the band has never played in Australia, but after constant calls from fans, Lynyrd Skynyrd decided to pay Australia a grand visit in the form of this tour.
Lynyrd Sykynrd is one of the most popular bands and truly represents the American culture. They gave the world, anthems like "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird." Moreover, they have more than 60 albums and sales exceeding 30 million across the globe, according to Tone Deaf.
The band with core members Johnny Van Zant, Gary Rossington and Ricky Medlock will unleash their fury on The Plenary, Melbourne on Feb. 11 and the Sydney Entertainment Centre on Feb. 13.
Lynyrd Skynyrd was formed in Jacksonville, Florida in the late 60s soon became a cultural icon for America. Their 2009 album "God & Guns" was a roaring success and made it too Billboard Top 20. Last year they released "Last of a Dyin' Breed" and gained the highest position since 1977, they debuted at #14 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart.
The band would have collapsed in the Mississipi swamp with the 1977 plane crash that killed three key members of the band including Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines. Over the years, Lynyrd Skynyrd lost members like Allen Collins, Leon Wilkeson, Hughie Thomasson, Ean Evans and Billy Powel. Yet, they are what they are today, standing tall and making the world rock on their tunes.

Tickets for both shows go on sale on Oct. 21, Monday, 9 a.m. onwards.
