Richard Colson Baker, professionally known as Machine Gun Kelly, received backlash when he tweeted about Eminem’s daughter Hailie Mathers in 2012. In a recent appearance in a radio show, the rapper and actor defended his tweet.

During his interview with “Ebro in the Morning,” Machine Gun Kelly said he was 21 years old when he tweeted about Eminem’s daughter, who was 17 at the time. He explained that in the tweet, he just said that Eminem’s daughter is beautiful and that the “Rap God” rapper is king.

Machine Gun Kelly’s tweet about Eminem’s daughter in 2012 has since been deleted, but screenshots of it had come out. While he did refer to Eminem as king and praised the beauty of his fellow rapper’s daughter in the tweet, a swear word was included in it.

Frustrated that his reputation negatively affected his music, Machine Gun Kelly made it clear that he is not sorry for the deleted tweet. For him, he did nothing wrong as he believes that the goal of hip hop music is to earn respect in a community.

On Oct. 16, Friday, Machine Gun Kelly released his second studio album, “General Admission.” He said that some media outlets are not covering his recent project because of his 2012 tweet about Eminem’s daughter.

For Machine Gun Kelly, the tweet was just blown out of proportion. He complained that there are certain people who will neither review nor listen to his new album.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Machine Gun Kelly donated two items to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. The items were a notebook of handwritten lyrics and a jacket he wore during the filming of “Punk's Dead: SLC 2,” Cleveland reports.

Aside from “Punk's Dead: SLC 2,” Machine Gun Kelly will also appear in two other films in 2016. He is part of the cast of the horror film “Viral,” starring “America’s Next Top Model” alum Analeigh Tipton, and the thriller “Nerve,” starring Emma Roberts and Dave Franco.
