Perth-based Macmahon Holdings announced today that as an alliance consortium member, it has been awarded a $50 million share of a $112 million rail contract extension by the New South Wales Government.

The extension is for a bundle of works within the Glenfield Transport Interchange situated in the western suburbs of Sydney.

The agreement will see the consortium build the Southern Flyover as part of the GTI development, with the Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation (TIDC) as its partner.

The project will begin immediately and is expected to be finished in 2013.
According to Macmahon chief executive officer Nick Bowen, the contract extension was proof of the success of the alliance and the strong working relationship formed with TIDC.

"Having worked in partnership with TIDC to deliver the initial northern package of the interchange project, we are very pleased to continue our relationship on the southern component," Mr Bowen said.

TIDC, Macmahon and its subsidiary MVM Rail, French construction group Bouygues and Parsons Brinckerhoff make up the alliance.
