The film trailer of Aussie director George Miller's "Mad Max: Fury Road" was recently shown at the 2014 Comic-Con in San Diego, California. The movie's lead character "Mad" Max Rockatansky used to be portrayed by Mel Gibson. But, the latest installment of the film franchise will now star Tom Hardy. According to the official YouTube channel of Warner Bros. Pictures, the film's distributor, the "Mad Max: Fury Road" film trailer was published on Sunday, July 27, 2014. It shows scenes in the desert because in the "Mad Max" universe, the setting is in the post-apocalyptic future and the main problem is the lack of oil. There is an ongoing oil war and the characters will fight for it to the death.

"Mad Max: Fury Road" is the fourth installment of "Mad Max" films. It is scheduled to be released on May 15, 2015. It is written and directed by George Miller. He shared writing credits with Nick Lathouris and Brendan McCarthy.

"Mad Max: Fury Road" reportedly took a long time to film because of several setbacks including financial and location problems. Mel Gibson, the film franchise's original star, was said to be interested in this installment. However, after the year 2000, he changed his mind and didn't want to be part of it anymore.

Aside from Tom Hardy, "Mad Max: Fury Road" also stars Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa, Nicholas Hoult as Nux, Riley Keough as Capable, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as Splendid, Zoë Kravitz as Toast and Hugh Keays-Byrne as Immortan Joe.
