‘Mad Men’: Returns for Final Season in April; Don Draper ‘Not’ a Person to Emulate
"Mad Men" returns for its final season on Sunday, April 13, 2014. The final season will complete its run in two installments and the second part of the final season is scheduled to air in 2015. AMC had followed the same format for its critically acclaimed cult show, "Breaking Bad."
The filming on the final season is currently going on. Christina Hendricks, who plays Joan in "Mad Men," said to Express that she will miss her character Joan, adding that she will miss Roger Sterling. "How can I not miss him after all we've been through?"
Talking about Don Draper, the actress said: "He made a habit of behaving badly from day one. Everyone thought he was so attractive and sexy and wanted to be like him. But now that his life seems to be falling apart, I don't think he's a person that anyone wants to emulate."
Peggy taking Don Draper's position, permanently, is unlikely to happen. In Season 6 Finale of "Mad Men," Don Draper was forced to go on a long leave and Peggy got his position, office and chair. Christina said that "At the end of the day, don't forget that it's still called Mad Men."
Christina, however, did not reveal anything about the upcoming season, saying that she has no clue about what is going to happen and if she knew, too, she is not one to spill the spoilers.
As reported earlier by E! Online, Don Draper is going commando, again, as Jon Hamm was spotted "opted to skip his underwear for this particular wardrobe choice and scene." Also, the new season will feature more hippies than Don Draper can handle.
James Wolk played one of the most talked about characters, last season, Ben Benson. It is not yet confirmed whether the character will return to reprise his role in the final season.
