EA Sports have decided to remove Ray Rice from one of its game characters in "Madden NFL 15." The decision was finalized over the player's recent suspension and termination of contract after a CCTV showed him allegedly beating and kicking his wife, Janay Rice, inside an elevator.
EA Sports Madden NFL broke the news on Twitter on Sept. 9.

Ray Rice was also cut off from his 5-year, $50 million contract on Monday, Sept. 8. TMZ reports the Baltimore Ravens player was initially suspended for two games over the domestic violence. However, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell decided that he should be given harsher punishments. So Rice was subjected to six-game suspensions then Goodell later retracted his decision and indefinitely suspended the player.
Ray Rice's removal from "Madden NFL 15" and termination of his Ravens contract reportedly came in the wake of his elevator scandal.
A previous report from TMZ claims the NFL player was caught on CCTV allegedly beating his wife Janay Rice, formerly Janay Palmer, inside an elevator. See video from link above.
The said incident happened on Feb. 15 at the Revel Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. The couple were caught in an angry argument where Ray Rice is seen hitting Janay first. Then she struck back. However, she was caught off balance from Ray's blow. Unfortunately, she hit her head on the elevator hand rail and passed out. The Ravens player was believed to be unfazed by the scene before him and managed to drag his wife out of the elevator and out of the hotel.
An employee at the hotel claimed The NFL reportedly saw the footage before imposing the two-game suspension to the player. However, NFL management denied the assumption and claimed they never saw the video before sanctioning Ray Rice.
According to Inquisitr, removing Ray Rice from "Madden 15 NFL" is not surprising. The site claims NFL usually removes any controversy that may pose a threat to the safety of its shareholders. A look back at Tiger Woods cheating scandal also subjected the golf player to the same fate as Ray Rice.
However, Tiger Woods was able to receive new endorsements following his divorce from Elin Nordegren. At this moment it's still uncertain if Ray Rice would also benefit the same treatment as Woods.
