Madonna’s maternal grandmother dies at 99
The singer publicist claims that Madonna has refused to issue a statement on the death of her grandmother, Elsie Mae Fortin.
The representative for pop legend Madonna said that the Material Girl singer has refused to issue a statement regarding the death of her 99-year-old maternal grandmother, Elsie Mae Fortin.
The singer said Aceshowbiz is in mourning following the death of her maternal grandmother who is three months away from her 100th birthday when she succumbed to death on March 10, Thursday at a care home in Bay City Michigan.
"I'm sorry, but Madonna will not be issuing any statements or conversing with the media regarding her grandmother. It is a totally personal matter to her," Madonna’s publicist was quoted as saying by the Aceshowbiz.
Fortin has looked after Madonna and raised her when the singer’s mother died of breast cancer in 1963.
The singer and actress is scheduled to fly to Michigan on Friday to attend her grandmother’s funeral. Reports have it that the funeral for Elsie will be held on Saturday at a nearby Catholic Church in the Bay City area.
