Ladies will surely be lining up at New York's Broadway as Channing Tatum's highly successful Magic Mike will finally dance its way to the stage.

Tatum, 33, revealed the news via Twitter on July 23:

The Broadway musical will be produced by a top creative team composed of Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey who will write new songs for the musical, and the book will be written by Aguirre-Sacasa.

Tony and Kitt helmed the Tony- and Pulitzer-winning musical, Next to Normal and Idina Menzel's upcoming Broadway musical If/Then. Aguirre-Sacasa, on the other hand, writes for Glee and also co-wrote the book for Spider Man: Turn Off The Dark musical. Steven Soderbergh, who directed the film, and Tatum will help produce the show.

Tatum's first movie with the director was Haywire. He did not announce if he is reprising his role but if it happens, this will mark his Broadway debut.

Magic Mike is loosely based on Tatum's brief career as a stripper at an exotic-dancing club in Tampa, Florida, when he was a teenager. He was the top performer known as Mike.

The film centres on Mike (Tatum) who discovers a young man known as The Kid, who has a potential to become part of the show and introduced him to the club owner, played by Matthew McConaughey.

No further announcement when the Broadway production will open or who will lead the cast. Just keep your dollar bills ready as the group is said to be fast tracking the project, according to Deadline.

Moreover, the excitement continues as a sequel to Magic Mike is in the works. Tatum told Glamour UK that he's "working on the concept" and wants to "flip the script and make it bigger".
