‘Magic Mike’ Sequel: Channing Tatum Dishes on Details about Upcoming Movie
The "21 Jumpstreet" actor Channing Tatum was generous in dishing out details about the most anticipated sequel to the hit movie "Magic Mike." Channing Tatum's cover story for GQ magazine has revealed many details about the movie-which is said to be primarily revolving around the story of our favorite male exotic dancers heading to a stripper's convention.
"I want to do the story of when I'm in a dark U-haul with a bunch of these guys and we're doing drugs driving up to the stripper convention," Tatum revealed during the interview.
According to GQ magazine, the idea for the next "Magic Mike" is reminiscent of Tatum and producing partner Reid Carolin who both attended a stripper's convention during their teenage years.
"The women would come from miles and miles around," Tatum said while remarking that the audience reached a close to 3000 during one stripper convention. "Then you lock the doors and you say all bets are off. It gets zany and crazy, and it's a wild ride. It's an incubator for insanity. It doesn't matter almost what you do onstage. I don't want to put anything in black and white on a page, but if you've been to one, you know how crazy it gets, and now pour kerosene on that. You've seen 'Magic Mike'-now multiply that. Mob mentality. It's just exponentially crazier. I thought it was absolutely insane."
"Magic Mike" director Steven Soderbergh also shared a couple of tidbits about the upcoming sequel to the movie. According to the GQ interview, the director will be working with his producing partner Greg Jacobs who will be in charge of directing the "on-the-road adventure" of the movie. Soderbergh, on the other hand, will still maintain his job as director of photography and camera operator, as well as the film's' editor.
"I want to be part of it. I want to be in the band, but I just don' want to be the front man this time," Soderbergh announces.
