Makeup artist Vlada Haggerty accuses Kylie Jenner of copying her idea again
It seems that Kylie Jenner has a lot on her plate these days. Not long ago, the 19-year-old released Kylie Cosmetics holiday collection for 2016 and she has already surrounded herself in a controversy. A picture posted on official Instagram handle of “Kylie Cosmetics” has been accused of being copied from Los Angeles-based make-up artist Vlada Haggerty’s picture.
The photo shows red ombre lips and gold eye shadow-covered hands. Apparently, the look has been inspired from a picture posted by Vlada Haggerty on her Instagram page.
As soon as the picture came to Vlada’s notice, she openly ranted about the same in an Instagram post. She posted a side-by-side comparison of the two photographs and asked on the social media platform, “Haven’t you gotten enough ‘inspiration’ from me already?”
This is not the first time that Kylie has been accused of stealing Vlada Haggerty’s idea. Last year in December, “Kylie Cosmetics” was in hot water for copying another picture. The official Instagram account of Kylie’s cosmetic line had posted a picture of metallic lips, the idea of which was apparently copied from one of Vlada’s picture about the same lipstick trend. When the issue was highlighted by the make-up artist, Kylie reportedly edited the caption giving Vlada the credit, but shortly thereafter, the picture was deleted from the Instagram handle.
At that time, while talking to Refinery 29, Vlada said, “Crediting artists is essential, but this goes beyond that. It’s theft. This is our livelihood. I see these things happen too many times to artists. We are all trying to make it, and this business is extremely competitive. I would ask anyone at this level use the proper channels to obtain images.”
Furthermore, the logo of Kylie’s lip kits has also been under scrutiny of make-up enthusiasts for its striking resemblance to Vlada’s pictures that also show an open mouth dripping with lipstick.
