Six months after Malaysian Airlines Flight MH 370 mysteriously disappeared on March 8 with 239 people on board, the head of the Indonesian Police Force claimed he knew what happened to the missing Boeing 777 jet but did not provide any further details.

General Sutarman made the incredible claim at a meeting of senior police and airline officials. Dailyrecord.com quoted the general as saying, "I spoke to the Malaysian Police Chief Tun Mohammed Hanif Omar. I actually know what had actually happened with MH370."

His statement may further add fuel to the rage felt by relatives of the passengers of the ill-fated aircraft who feel Malaysian officials knew what happened but are hiding the truth from them.

But Khalid Abu Bakar, inspector general of police in Malaysia, said he was shocked by the comments of Sutarman and would talk to the Indonesian police officials. The Royal Malaysian Police and the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur denied the general's claim that the Malaysia Chronicle initially reported.

The Indonesian embassy said it would summon the Malaysia Chronicle reporter who wrote the article to provide clarity on the statements of the general. Aby Nursetyanto of the embassy said it would take action against the reporter if he could not present further proof.
