Male Celebrities Show Support For Emma Watson's 'HeForShe' Campaign: From Logan Lerman To Douglas Booth And Tom Hiddleston
While a number of misogynists have threatened to release Emma Watson's nudes following her speech on gender equality, a number of male celebrities have shown their support for Watson's United Nations campaign "HeForShe." From Logan Lerman to Douglas Booth to Tom Hiddleston, here are all the male celebrities joining in on Watson's fight for gender equality.
The former "Harry Potter" star certainly made a statement at the United Nations event in New York. Despite a trembling voice, Watson's message was loud and clear. Gender equality is a fight concerning both men and women. The British actress also urged men to join her campaign "HeForShe" because men too should be a part of the fight.
"If we stop defining each other by what we are not and start defining ourselves by who we are we can all be freer and this is what HeForShe is about. It's about freedom. I want men to take up this mantle," stated the 24-year old UN Women Goodwill Ambassador.
However, Emma's speech for gender equality was met by online threats. 4Chan, the website responsible for uploading nude photos of Jennifer Lawrence, Amber Heard and more, has launched a separate site entitled: "Emma Watson Your Next: Never Forget, The Biggest to Come Thus Far." A photo of the actress along with a clock counting down to less than two days was included in the site.
Updated reports however state that the online threat was a hoax in hopes to silence Emma's fight for gender equality. Yet, even with the threats the fight continues as Emma remains strong in putting the message across. Watson has been active on Twitter for her "HeForShe" campaign.
In fact, a number of A-list male celebrities have already joined in on the cause. Emma's "Noah" co-star, Douglas Booth had signed up and shared a photo of him with the sign "HeForShe" on Twitter. Another co-star of Emma for the film "Perks of Being a Wallflower," Logan Lerman too joined in.
Other male celebrities joining in for Emma's fight to end gender inequality include Tom Hiddleston, Matthew Lewis, Simon Pegg, Russell Crowe, Chris Colfer and Keifer Sutherland. Renowned author Neil Gaiman had also taken part of the "HeForShe" campaign.
