Australian newspapers named on Friday the man caught on film having sex on Wednesday with his female partner on the balcony of a Darwin hotel. He is Wade John, former owner of the bankrupt Top End Escapes, a tour operator.

John, who owes over $2 million to other Northern Territory businesses, was fined $120 and charged for indecent behaviour. The video of his balcony sex romp with the unidentified female partner became viral in Australia with almost 200,000 hits.

The film showed the couple initially drinking wine and smoking cigarettes. Then they proceeded to have sex in broad daylight at the balcony of the La Grande apartments, which is located on the corner of Mitchell and Knuckey streets. People on the street saw their sex show.

One female office worker said her co-workers have seen the apparent same pair make out on the balcony before.

"All the girls at the window just erupted in laughter so the whole floor walked across and saw it.... We were all thinking 'far out, please just take it inside,'" the woman told ntnews.com.au.

"We were thinking she was paid to go there, or maybe it was set up.... I reckon she knew we were watching them," she added.

Top End Escapes shuttered in November 2010 after Mr John filed for bankruptcy when the company's debt reached $2.3 million as against assets of $600,000 and collectibles of $140,000.

Mr John's behaviour could be explained by a survey in 2010 of 10,000 Australians. The poll found that almost every two Territorian enjoys engaging in public sex, from beaches to bathrooms, office to nightclubs.
