Tristan Bain, a poker pro from Melbourne, Australia won the ultimate bragging rights in Sydney when he won the main event title in the first-ever Asian Poker Tour (APT) Sydney. For coming out as the champion, Bain went home with $281,685 for his first-place finish.

The event, also endorsed by the National Poker League (NPL), was held at The Star in Sydney, Australia, and had the biggest-ever attendance in a poker tournament with 649 entries.

Bain had one of the bigger stacks entering the final table of the main event but outplayed everyone in the final day that lasted over 15 hours.

Erstwhile chip-leader Jim Collopy got hit early— by Bain—in final table play and had to settle for an 8th place finish for over $25,000. Brent Nichols, who started the day second in chips, was consistent all tournament long and finished in 2nd place for roughly $176K.

Daryl Hussey ended up at 3rd ($95,645); Luca Borreggine at 4th ($72,900); Tony Sama at 5th ($59,486); Amir Minagar at 6th ($47,823); Glenn McConnell at 7th ($36,160) and Trevor Saunders at 9th ($18,080).
