The Chronicle reported two Brisbane schools, believed to be Redeemer Lutheran and Rochedale State High School, were in lockdown after the man had been seen carrying the gun. An update from the Courier Mail says the lockdown has been lifted after the man was found to have been carrying a “fake” machine gun.
Update
The 26-year-old was shocked to realise that he had caused widespread drama. According to Inspector Daniel Bragg, the man was in the middle of “very serious training.”
"He's a very fit looking young man; I can't comment about what was going through his mind but he was certainly very compliant with police,” Bragg told reporters.
"They get the impression he wasn't aware of the havoc he wreaked as a consequence of his actions."
The man has been issued with a notice to appear in Holland Park Magistrates' Court on Dec. 9 on one count of public nuisance.
