The new Superman movie is set to hit Australian Cinemas on June 27.

Actor Russell Crowe, who played Superman's Kryptonian father, came in Sydney to attend the "Man of Steel" premiere in the country. He came with his two sons during the premiere.

He shared that being Superman's father was not a difficult role for him since he is a father in real father. He even shared that his two sons, Charles (9 years old) and Tennyson (6 years old) loved the movie.

In an interview with AAP, Mr. Crowe shared that, "They're never really impressed with me. I am just dad, the taxi driver, but they love the film and they're here again tonight because they wanted to see it a second time."

Although, the role as Superman's father did not pose a challenge for the actor, he said that getting fit for the role was physically challenging.

He jokingly shared that, "When they told me I would be wearing four layers of spandex, that caught me in the throat for a little bit. But if you do work out, you can wear that sort of stuff, so actually it was quite empowering once you got used to it."

Actor Russell Crowe was joined with Director Zack Synder and lead actor Henry Cavill.

Talking about the movie, Director Snyder said that, "The irony of the movie is that it is not ironic. That was fun for me. I can't make a movie that is without self-awareness in some way. I think it is fitting that the most realistic movie I've made is about Superman."

This lack of irony may not favor the taste of the Australian market but the director was quick to explain that Superman in the movie Man of Steel still meets the Australian sensibilities since the character had become "a transcendent international figure."

Maybe, it was part of the plan to cast Australian actor Russell Crowe after all, since lead actor Henry Cavil who played Clark Kent/Superman is a Jersey boy. And, as all Australians know, Superman is an American superhero who is a representation of truth and justice.

Talking about Russel Crowe, Director Snyder said that he "can play any part. He can play George Washington if he wanted to and I don't think anyone would have a problem with it. They're basically playing two aliens anyway."

In an interview with The Sunday Morning Herald, the director was asked why controversial character Lex Luthor was not in the movie. The director said, "Suffice it to say, if we were able to make another movie and -another big if - if Lex is in that film. I think really you would want to use the pedigree that we have established as far as how the movie would be cast."

The Director further explained that "I think you need an actor that would be able to personify this iconographic role in the same way that Russell and Kevin and Amy have dome in the movie we have just made. That's the criterion. That's the pedigree you would look for."

Director Snyder also expressed her opinion about Superman being in the next Justice League movie, "Without Superman you cannot have a Justice League movie. It does not make any sense. It is like you are missing one of your big teeth, if you don't have a Superman character that works. I think we're taking steps towards doing that... it would be fun."
