Man Who Broke Into Apartment To Sexually Assault 3 Children Gets 85 Years
A 36-year-old man who broke into an apartment in Dallas, Texas, in 2019 to sexually assault three young girls was sentenced to 85 years in prison Friday.
Oscar King was found guilty by a Dallas County jury Thursday of one count of sexual assault of a child and two counts of burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit a sex crime, The Dallas Morning News reported.
The Dallas resident broke into a Lake Highlands apartment at around 3 a.m. on March 27, 2019, KTVT reported, citing an arrest warrant affidavit. King came through the unlocked window of a bedroom shared by three sisters, aged 10, 12 and 13 years old.
King told the girls that he would kill their family members as he attempted to assault one of them, the affidavit said. The man touched each of the girls as he switched between threatening to hurt their relatives and attempting to calm them down.
King later jumped out of the window when the girls screamed and punched him, the Dallas County district attorney’s office said. He was arrested later that day.
Prosecutor Alex Dobiyanski said King attempted to enter three other windows at the apartment complex before opening the window to the girls’ room. The sisters' window "had little kid stickers on it," the prosecutor said.
One of the girls had a headache at the time and opened the window to get some fresh air. They forgot to lock the window when they closed it before going to bed.
Investigators were able to link King to the attack after his palm prints were found inside the girls’ room on the windowsill and the desk.
The apartment manager also relayed to police that there was a man who frequented the apartment complex. He was able to take a photo of the suspect on a white Mustang. They later confirmed that it was King and his vehicle.
“It’s a just and right verdict,” Dobiyanski stated. “This predator is a thief of innocence and must now face the consequences of putting those children through unimaginable horrors for the next 85 years of his life.”
