In a title race that came down right to the very last match day, Manchester City secured their fourth English Premiere League Title in the club's 134 year history. The final day saw the champions finish with 88 points only two points clear of closest rivals Liverpool FC at 86 points and four points clear of third place Chelsea at 84 points. The final UEFA Champions League spot goes to Arsenal FC who finished with 79 points. Notably absent among the top four is Manchester United who struggled this season after the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson who was at the helm of the club for 26 years. He has since been replaced by "The Chosen One," David Moyes who has since been sacked due to the team's lacklustre performance and replaced by Ryan Giggs as interim manager late in the season.

It was all to play for in the last match day of the season with three teams still in with a mathematical chance at victory. In the end, all three teams defeated their respective opponents to retain status quo coming into the final week with Manchester City on top

Manchester City's Manager Manuel Pellegrini hails his players: "The fans enjoyed the season; we broke the record for most goals scored by any team in England. It is the way we must play with the quality of players we have. Of course I am proud to manage this group of players and this club. It is a great honour to be the first manager outside of Europe to win the title but I'm not the most important person."

Liverpool FC supporters are happy enough with second place and are looking forward to some European football action next season. Former Liverpool star Luis Garcia tweeted: "We'll go again. Champions League is back to Anfield. #YNWA"

Chelsea Manager José Mourinho is already looking forward to the transfer market and the squad he will have for next season, "Finishing third is not a drama, it is a position we will have to accept in a transitional season. If we do our work well in the summer market, I want to say from day 1 next season we challenge for the title."

Meanwhile, Manchester United has some explaining to do. Missing out on any form of European football left some sponsors in doubt for next season.
