In a recent poll on the Manchester United Supporters Trust Facebook page 99% of respondents voted to keep David De Gea than sign Real Madrid's Welsh superstar Gareth Bale. It is reported that to stop Real Madrid luring their number one shot stopper back to his home town the Manchester club have demanded a world record transfer fee of £50M.

Manchester United are also offering a new improved contract to De Gea worth £200,000 a week worth about £52m for five years. De Gea, 24, is not too keen to sign the deal right away as he wishes to wait till the end of the season to see where the club end the season. The problem with Manchester United is that should De Gea wish to leave in the summer his transfer value will come down considerably as he would enter the last year of his contract.

Elsewhere there is more bad news waiting for the Red Devils. Mats Hummels, the long term target for the club, has categorically stated that he is not looking to move out of Germany at the present moment. "All those rumours are another issue I have never commented about. I've done that in the past, and I will continue to do so", Hummels told Die Welt when questioned about the rumours surrounding his move to England.

Another Manchester United target Stefan Savic has rejected any advances and has committed his future to Fiorentina by signing a new four and a half year deal. With that Manchester United has turned its attention to Barcelona's Gerard Pique. It is believed that the Red Devils will table a £15M bid for the Spanish international.

Finally former Manchester United captain Gary Neville wants the present manager Louis van Gaal to replace his favourtire 3-5-2 system and go back to a more traditional flat back four. He has corroborated his claims with statistics that has showed the Red Devils win a lot more games and score a lot more goals playing a flat back four.
