'The Mandalorian': Leaked pictures tease Stormtroopers
Close on the heels of reports suggesting that Stormtroopers will be featured in “The Mandalorian,” leaked pictures from the production set confirm the presence of the Imperial soldiers. A report also reveals the kind of environment the fans can expect to see in the new planet featured in the TV series.
A leaked picture of two extras dressed as Stormtroopers posted on MakingStarWars suggests that the TV series will show the remnant forces of the fallen Empire. The plot of the show is set just after the events in “Return of the Jedi” and long before “The Force Awakens.”
Since it will take some time for the First Oder to rise, it is safe to assume that these are the remaining battalions of Stormtroopers of the Empire who have been pushed to the Outer Rim, thanks to the establishment of the New Republic.
The protagonist of the TV series has been described as a “warrior” in the official synopsis, and he operates far from the reach of the New Republic. This indicates that the show will be based on a planet in the Outer Rim of the galaxy.
The planet on which the Mandalorian works is a desert planet. The report about the Stormtroopers also teases some aspects of the new planet. The production crew was reportedly mixing red sand into the mix, and also making the ground appear wet. The planet is expected to show volcanic activity, and the report suggests that they could be showing the hot, volcanic ground sizzle after it rains, giving it a distinct look and feel in the “Star Wars” universe.
Jon Favreau is the creator and showrunner of “The Mandalorian” TV series. Although filming has started, very few details about the cast have been revealed so far. The producers also haven’t announced a release date for the TV series.
