There have been quite a lot of reports stating that Manny Pacquiao is a top contender for Floyd Mayweather's next fight on May 3, 2014. Pacquiao is reportedly to fly to the United States to meet with Mayweather and his camp to talk about the odds of a mega-fight between them. However, the undefeated boxer seems really disinterested in fighting the Filipino boxer.

FightHype.com was able to talk to Mayweather and he quickly clarified the rumours. "I don't really know what the future holds for me," said the reigning pound-for-pound king. He stated that everyone has been telling different names, as far as his next fight is concerned. He knows Amir Khan has already expressed his interest of fighting him. Mayweather also revealed his reactions when Pacquiao's name has been brought up again. "A guy like Pacquiao, he's 1 and 2 in his last 3 fights," said Mayweather. "He comes back and fights a lightweight," he said.

The five-division world champion made it clear that he has no intentions of fighting the eight-division world champion. However, Mayweather recognises why Pacquiao unexpectedly welcomed the idea of fighting him again all of a sudden. He said that the current tax case that the Filipino boxer is facing at the moment is probably the main reason why he wants to meet up with him out of the blue.

Mayweather stated that he is aware that Pacquiao is dealing with big problems right now, but he doesn't want to get into his financial business because he doesn't want anyone minding his financial matters too. Nevertheless, he believes that the tax dilemma is the key factor why Pacquiao suddenly want to have a meeting with him. "Would I be trying to get a potential fight with Mayweather if I'm in a very, very bad predicament from what I hear," he added. "Absolutely, I would," he continued.

Mayweather believes that Pacquiao's victory over Rios in the lightweight division is not enough for him to earn a shot at attempting to beat the undefeated boxer in the welterweight division.
