Manny Pacquiao Next Fight: Juan Manuel Marquez To Fight Pacman on 50-50 Split
Juan Manuel Marquez could accept a fifth fight with Manny Pacquiao, only if he will have a 50-50 split on the fight purse. In a report by Chris Williams of Boxing News 24, Top-Rank promoter Bob Arum reportedly wanted Marquez to be Pacman's next opponent in April.
"Bob Arum of Top Rank wants Marquez as Pacquiao's opponent for this fight date, and he doesn't seem ready to take no for an answer," Fight News stated via Boxing News 24.
However, Marquez stressed several times that he's not interested at all to fight his archrival once again, saying the Pacman chapter of his career is over. The Mexican said he's not impressed by the way Pacquiao defeated Brandon Rios last November 24 at Venetian Macao in Macau, China.
Marquez, who flattened Pacquiao in the sixth round of their fourth showdown roughly a year ago in Las Vegas, told Boxing Scene that he's not overly impressed by Pacman's latest win as he believed Rios never threatened the Filipino champ.
The four-time division world champ added Pacquiao only looked good because Rios was a handpicked opponent all along, insisting that things would have been different if Pacman was pitted against a faster and shifter fighter.
"It was important for Manny Pacquiao to look good, so they gave him an opponent like Brandon Rios for his return and he looked impressive," Marquez told Boxing Scene.
"I believe that Bob Arum is doing his job in getting him these types of opponents, but it will be important to see him face tougher competition and see how he looks against those kind of fighters after suffering that knockout," he added.
When asked if he wants to fight Pacquiao for the fifth time, Marquez once again ruled out that possibility and stressed that his Pacman chapter of his boxing career is over.
Veteran boxing analyst Ed Tolentino also believed that there will be no showdown happening between Marquez and Pacquiao because the Mexican is already contented with the outcome of the fourth fight.

"Juan Manuel Marquez, I don't see him fighting Pacquiao anymore," the analyst said in an interview with ABS-CBN News. "Because Marquez is already contented with the fact that he was able to knock out Pacquiao. Let that be the lasting memory of the rivalry."
Marquez scored a sixth round knockout win over Pacquiao in their Welterweight clash last year. However, 'Dinamita' failed to become the first Mexican five-division world champ after losing to Timothy Bradley via split decision in their WBO Welterweight bout last October 12.
Still, the possibility of claiming $13 to $15 million will be too good for Marquez to turn down. With this amount of money at stake, Marquez will surely have a change of heart over his stance not to accept a fifth rumble with the Pacman.
