The current interim World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight champion Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero is reportedly being considered as a potential opponent for Manny Pacquiao's next fight on April 12.

According to Fight Hype, Guerrero wants to take a shot at Pacquiao. The Filipino boxer's adviser Michael Koncz just revealed two of the four fighters being deliberated for Pacquiao's next fight but refused to name the other two. We all know that Timothy Bradley and Ruslan Provodnikov are the two fighters that were recently named to potentially fight for Pacquiao's next fight, but could Guerrero be the third contender?

"There's another name, Robert Guerrero," a source told Fight Hype. The boxing news Web site also reports that even though Pacquiao is leaning more on a rematch with Bradley, the eight-division world champion is being guided that a bout against Guerrero may be even more profitable.

Right now, Guerrero is looking for legal solutions so that he can get out of his contract with his current company, Golden Boy Promotions. Guerrero's contract with the Golden Boy is one factor that may hinder him from finally landing a fight with Pacquiao. He has allegedly sought arbitration with the California State Athletic Commission to leave his promoter.

According to Golden Boy Promotions Chief Executive Officer Richard Schaefer, it is going to be a long road for Guerrero to leave the company. Schaefer stated that the contract was signed under the law of New York and not under California's.

Schaefer also aired out his sentiments about how Guerrero has always asked him for a Mayweather fight for a long time. "The guy was on my ass to get him the Mayweather fight for a long time," said Schaefer. "Finally I get him the deal and now he is unhappy, I don't understand," Schaefer added.

In another news article published by Boxing Scene, the Golden Boy Promotions chief executive officer stated that another negotiator could have likely influenced Guerrero's choice to discontinue his relationship with the company.

"I think there is another promoter whispering in his ear, promising him this and promising him that," said Schaefer.

However, as mentioned prior, it wouldn't be easy for Guerrero to walk away from his current promoter.

"First he needs to be free," said Schaefer. "We have a valid and enforceable contract," he added.

If Guerrero, who has not fought since his defeat against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May 2013, is really keen on fighting Pacquiao on his next fight, he would have to face legal inhibitions in pursuing his exoneration from Golden Boy.
